The two overlap on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and OfferUp, and both let you filter by make, model, year, price and miles. They differ on reach, on what they show next to each car, and on price. The table puts the facts side by side.

How each one fits a buying day
With Swoopa you build searches around keywords, such as "Tacoma 4x4" or "Camry XSE", and narrow them by price, distance, make, model, year and mileage. When a listing matches, the app alerts you on iOS or Android, or by email, and you message the seller. Swoopa's price filter compares each ask with its own estimate of market value and hides listings with little room between the two. Its pitch is speed. You reach the seller before other buyers see the ad.
With VinCount you set a buy box once: make and model, year, price, miles, type, how recently posted, seller, and flags such as nothing wrong in the ad or price dropped. Every choice shows how many cars it leaves. The sheet lists those cars, one row each, and new cars arrive on the open sheet on their own. You read down the list, then open the cars worth a call. Each one shows every photo, what VinCount saw, what the seller says, and the ad's full text. See how it works for each column.
When Swoopa is the better fit
- You buy outside Los Angeles. VinCount covers no other market yet, and Swoopa works wherever Facebook Marketplace does.
- You want your phone to buzz the minute a car posts. VinCount has no text or email alerts yet.
- You flip more than cars. Swoopa's FAQ names furniture, couches and electronics. VinCount shows only cars, trucks, RVs and commercial vehicles.
- You want the cheapest way in. Swoopa Go costs $47 a month, or $28 a month on a 12-month commitment, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
- You want eBay, Nextdoor, Kijiji or Gumtree listings too, or an estimated value beside each ask. Swoopa gives one. VinCount never will.
When VinCount is the better fit
VinCount does one job. It lays out the private-party cars in Los Angeles so a dealer can pick which ones to call.
Each car shows once. A seller who reposts a car every few days, or lists it on both Craigslist and Marketplace, gets one row when a VIN, a plate, shared photos or the same ad text proves it is the same car. The row keeps every price cut across those postings, so you see how far the seller has already come down.
The seller's claims stay apart from what VinCount saw. Miles, title and condition in an ad are what the seller typed, and VinCount shows them as the seller's word, never as checked. The ask, the price history, days listed and the plate in the photos are what VinCount observed. About 30 "the ad says" tags turn the ad's own words into a column. Problems come first, such as doesn't run, a warning light, mileage off or a price that is not the full price. Then come history, papers and terms, such as one owner, smogged, OBO or must sell. You read the tags instead of every ad.
Curbstoners post as owners. VinCount marks a car "likely dealer" when the ad reads like a lot's, and the seller filter hides those cars. The guide to spotting curbstoners covers the signs. When a plate shows in a photo, the row shows the plate cut out of that photo beside its text.
VinCount never shows a deal score, a suggested offer or an estimated value. You know your recon, your lot and your turn, so the math stays yours. At $299 a month, VinCount costs less than Swoopa Nitro month to month at $352, and more than every other Swoopa plan.
What VinCount does not do yet
VinCount is in alpha. It covers Los Angeles only. Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Miami, Atlanta and Phoenix come next, and VinCount does not collect them yet. It is adding an auction median per car, with the number of sales behind it, and retail prices, but neither is live today. It sends no text or email alerts, so you see new cars when you open the sheet. It does not contact sellers for you. If you need any of those now, Swoopa or another tool on the comparison page will serve you better.
